Join us for ‘Ftira Għawdxija’, an immersive culinary event celebrating the rich tradition of Maltese bread-making. Taking place on Monday 8th July 2024, at the historic Inquisitor’s Palace in Birgu, this event highlights the cultural and historical significance of sourdough bread in Malta’s culinary heritage.

Discover the unique story of the Ftira Għawdxija and its connections to Malta’s first entry in UNESCO’s Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Experience first-hand the culinary art and culture of sourdough bread that has been a staple in Malta’s food patterns for centuries. Don’t miss this chance to delve into a vital aspect of Maltese cultural identity through an interactive and educational workshop.

This bilingual event will accommodate a maximum of 10 participants per session, ensuring a personalized and engaging experience.

The kids’ session will take place between 09:00 and 11:30, and the adults’ session from 18:30 until 21:00.

Adult participants will be offered a glass of wine during each session, enhancing the culinary experience with a touch of local flavor. All attendees are encouraged to bring an extra container to take home their delicious creations.
