Sample the rich culinary tastes of the Mediterranean at our event, ‘Balbuljata bil-Patata Moqlija’, taking place on Monday 22nd July 2024, at the Inquisitor’s Palace in Birgu.

This session focuses on the humble yet beloved ingredients of tomatoes and potatoes which, despite being staples in our diet today, only became part of European cuisine after the 16th century.

Through engaging activities, participants will explore the journey of these New World products and their eventual widespread acceptance in European cuisine by the 18th century.

Celebrate a dish that stands out during the peak season of tomatoes and potatoes, and learn about its significance in our culinary tradition.

There will be two sessions – each bilingual – one for kids from 09:00 till 11:30, and another for adults from 18:30 till 21:00.

Adult participants will be offered a glass of wine during each session, enhancing the culinary experience with a touch of local flavour. All attendees are encouraged to bring an extra container to take home their delicious creations.

Important disclaimers: Unfortunately, the venue is not wheelchair accessible, and the course may expose participants to potential allergens such as wheat, eggs, nuts, and gluten.
