On Independence Day, Heritage Malta is inviting you to step back in time at the two prehistoric gems of Għar Dalam & Borġ in-Nadur in Birżebbuġa, open at a reduced admission price with pre-booked guided tours.

Għar Dalam is Malta’s oldest known prehistoric site. Its relevance as a prehistoric site was discovered in the latter half of the 19th century after a series of excavations unearthing animal bones as well as human remains and artefacts.

The neighbouring Neolithic area of Borġ in-Nadur was excavated in the 1920s by eminent female archaeologist Margaret Murray, yielding further crucial information that helped our understanding of facets of Maltese prehistory, which had until then remained problematic.

On this public holiday, admission to both sites will available at a reduced price with a combo ticket of €3, and free for children (up to 11 years) and Heritage Malta members. Tickets available only at the door.

Four guided tours will be held, for which pre-booking required. Tickets are available from all Heritage Malta museums or sites, and online as per below, also including admission to both sites. –
