Calling our history’s biggest fans!

We are inviting all students who have explored more than 10 museums and earned a VISA stamp on their Student Passport, to join us on the 5th of May for an exclusive VISA event at the historic site of Tas-Silġ Archaeological Complex in Marsaxlokk.

Attendees will get a unique opportunity to delve into the intriguing past of this multi-period site, under the expert guidance of its curator. Parents are invited to join in with their children for free.

Tas-Silġ’s story spans from the prehistoric Tarxien phase (3,150-2,500 BC) to the Arab period (9th-11th century AD), serving as a testament to the island’s rich cultural and religious history. Across millennia, this site has been transformed from a megalithic temple complex to a Christian basilica, and beyond, reflecting the diverse influences that have shaped Malta.

There will be four tours in total – two in Maltese at 09:00 and 11:00, and two in English at 10:00 and 12:00. This VISA event is free but booking your spot from any Heritage Malta museum or site is essential due to the limited capacity of students per group. Student passports will be checked and stamped on the day.

Regrettably, this site is not accessible to wheelchairs due to its ancient infrastructure.

Tas-Silġ is a bee-keeping site. Participants should refrain from wearing perfume, scented oils and shower products, as well as excessive sunblock. Attendees are also requested to keep away from the bee-keeping area and not to swat the bees.

Please Note: This is a Bee-keeping site!
