Dear Heritage Malta Members,

On Saturday 27th July 2024, from 09:30 am to 11:00 am, Heritage Malta is inviting you to take a trip in time, during an exclusive guided tour of Ta’ Bistra Catacombs in Mosta.

Nestled halfway between the ancient town of Melite and the historical harbour of Salina, Ta’ Bistra Catacombs represent the largest set of tombs and catacombs found outside the island’s ancient city.

First documented in the late 1800s, these catacombs were partially explored in 1933 by Captain Charles Zammit. Although part of the site was obscured by the construction of a new road to Burmarrad, subsequent excavations revitalized the site with fresh discoveries and insights.

This exclusive members-only event offers a rare opportunity to explore this significant archaeological site and explained through a guided tour.

Participants will delve into the historical context, the architectural significance, and the latest interpretations based on recent findings that shed new light on the catacombs’ historical and cultural importance.

Tickets will be available at any Heritage Malta museum or site, as well as online here Store – Heritage Malta. Attendees will be requested to present their Heritage Malta membership cards on the day of the event.
