On Saturday 13th July 2024, Heritage Malta is inviting children aged 6 years to explore the enigmatic world of sharks, in an exciting event tailored for their curious minds at the National Museum of Natural History in Mdina.

Entitled ‘Sharks: The Big Bite’, this event offers a hands-on exploration of the diverse and fascinating species of sharks, from the ancient megalodon to the sharks roaming our oceans today. There will be two sessions, one at 09:30 in English and another at 11:00 in Maltese.

Participants will have the unique opportunity to handle real shark specimens, including shark teeth, jaws, and even shark eggs, commonly known as mermaid purses. They will learn more on which shark species are found in the Mediterranean waters and discuss the critical role these apex predators play in maintaining the health of marine ecosystems.

This session aims to not only educate, but also to spark a lifelong curiosity about marine biology and the importance of sharks in our world. We'll delve into the historical significance of sharks, their evolutionary prowess, and their vital ecological roles.

Spaces are very limited, to ensure an intimate and impactful learning environment, so reserve your spot today, online on Store - Heritage Malta or from any of our museums and sites.

This event forms part of Heritage Malta’s Summer Student Programme 2024
