Following Heritage Malta’s latest highly acclaimed ‘Vincent Apap; Works from the National Collection’ exhibition, and two international shows, ‘I fought the X and the X Won’ and Riccardo Licata’s ‘Mediterranean Soul’, Heritage Malta’s National Museum of Fine Arts is proud to host the forthcoming official book launch of Joseph Paul Cassar’s ‘Pioneers of Modern Art in Malta’. An exhibition of modern works of art from the National Collection, curated by Professor Cassar, will also be inaugurated on the same evening.

Prof Joseph Paul Cassar is a practising artist, art historian, art critic, curator and educator. He was a decisively inspiring academic spearheading the formation of a generation of Maltese scholars, educators and professionals in the field before moving to University of Maryland University College where he is currently Professor of Art. He is also engaged in designing dynamic online art courses for the New York Times Knowledge Network. Professor Cassar is also one of the museum?s internationally acclaimed consultants and advisors.

The book launch will take place on the 19th of August in the evening. The inauguration of an exhibition of modern and contemporary art works also curated by Dr Joseph Paul Cassar will be held in conjunction with this book launch. This exhibition, hosted by the National Museum of Fine Arts in Valletta, will run till the 4th September. Opening hours Monday – Sunday from 09.00 till 17.00hrs. Admission to the exhibition for free.
