On Sunday, 25th October, Heritage Malta will be organising an Open Day at the Neolithic archaeological site, Kordin III Temples. Entrance is free, however, places are limited so participants need to pre-book tickets from any Heritage Malta site or museum.
The area of Corradino, intrinsically associated with the Grand Harbour, must have been a significant area in prehistory due to the concentration of megalithic remains discovered there in the 19th and 20th centuries.
Of these, only Kordin III, nowadays managed by Heritage Malta, is still accessible, with the others having disappeared over the years due to industrial development in the area.
This prehistoric complex was constructed over various phases of the Neolithic and consists of a series of megalithic buildings. It includes a unique paved forecourt and other features which are not found in other contemporary Neolithic buildings.
Kordin III is not open to the public daily as are the more famous neighbouring sites; the Ħal Saflieni Hypogeum and Tarxien Temples. Therefore, the opportunity to visit the site as part of a guided tour is not to be missed.
Guided Tours: 9.00am (English); 10.00am (Maltese); 11.00am (English).
Due to COVID-19 health regulations, only 20 tickets will be available for each tour. Temperature reading will take place and Heritage Malta reserves the right to deny access to anyone with a temperature higher than 37.2 degrees Celsius or if feeling unwell.
