Draft for Consultation – May 2012

The Ministry for Tourism, Culture and the Environment launched the consultation process on the draft National Strategy for Cultural Heritage (NSCH). The revised national strategy replaces the 2006 strategy document that came to an end in December 2011. The NSCH shall cover the period 2012 to 2017.

The draft for consultation is proposing 22 Strategic Objectives for the cultural heritage sector. Building on the 2006 strategy it introduces new targets and ideas. The NSCH addresses aspects of policy and legislation as well as operational initiatives. The draft strategy aims at addressing the needs of the cultural sector in a tangible manner. Long-term impact and sustainability are underlying factors of this strategy.

The Ministry for Tourism, Culture and the Environment seeks views on:

-????????? actions that may be taken to broaden citizen participation further;

-????????? measures to address identified needs;

-????????? ways of improving existing operational practices and structures;

-????????? existing operational practices/fiscal incentives that are outdated and/or no longer required;

All contributions must relate to the cultural heritage sector. You are welcome to provide feedback and suggestions on the draft for consultation.?

The consultation process is open for a period of 5 weeks until the 22 June 2012.
