Heritage Malta will be taking part as a primary collaborator in the 8th International Euro-Mediterranean Conference (EuroMed 2020), to be held from the 2nd till the 5th of November.

EuroMed is Europe’s largest digital cultural heritage conference, dedicated to the protection, preservation and e-documentation of cultural heritage. For the first time ever, the conference will be held online due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Anthony Cassar, Heritage Malta Project Manager for EEA Digitisation, will be Heritage Malta’s representative at this conference where policy makers, professionals, students and delegates from more than 60 countries will exchange know-how and experiences in cultural heritage research as well as current and future worldwide developments in this area.

Mr Cassar will be chairing the concluding session of a full-day workshop where several high-level speakers will focus on cultural tourism. The workshop is being organised by the UNESCO Chair on Digital Cultural Heritage with the EU ERA chair on Digital Cultural Heritage in cooperation with the EU European Digital Library. Heritage Malta’s digitisation department will be producing a 30-minute introductory video for this workshop, featuring cultural tourism in the 27 EU member states.

“This conference will provide an excellent opportunity for Heritage Malta to gain exposure and promote itself as a leading organisation in digital cultural heritage, particularly when one considers that EuroMed 2020 will be closely followed by top EU officials and industry leaders in the sector,” said Mr Noel Zammit, Heritage Malta Chief Executive Officer.
