Threading through time!

On Saturday 19th July at 10:00am, we are inviting children aged 8 and older to learn about Malta’s textile traditions, during a hands-on workshop at the Inquisitor’s Palace in Birgu.

Using mini cardboard looms and recycled fabric strips, participants will weave their own creations while learning about historical practices of sustainability and craftsmanship. Inspired by the symbolism of garments like the ‘għonnella’, the session encourages children to explore how fashion, heritage, and environmental values are deeply interconnected.

Children will invent their very own patterns and colour schemes, blending tradition with modern creativity.

Tickets are just €10 (or €8 for Heritage Malta Members) and include entry for one accompanying adult. Book online on Store – Heritage Malta or visit any Heritage Malta site to reserve your spot.

The event lasts 1hr and 30mins.
Children must be accompanied by adults at all times.
Ages given are just a suggestion – this event can be enjoyed by students who are 2 years younger or older.

This activity forms part of Heritage Malta’s Student Passport Summer Programme 2025.
