On Saturday 11th April, students aged 7 and over are invited to join the ‘Juniors’ Discovery Tour’ at Fort St Angelo in Birgu. Two guided tours will take place – the first one in English at 1:30 pm, followed by a second tour in Maltese at 3:00 pm.
Young explorers will uncover the story of one of Malta’s most important fortresses. Perched at the tip of the Birgu peninsula and overlooking the Grand Harbour, Fort St Angelo played a central role in the island’s history – from its early days as the medieval Castrum Maris, through the time of the Knights of St John, to its service as the Royal Navy’s Mediterranean Fleet headquarters during the Second World War.
As they explore the fort’s buildings and defences, participants will learn how different areas were used across the centuries and even discover a rather sinister hole in the ground that hides a darker chapter of the fort’s past.
Tickets, each including admission for one accompanying adult, are available online at Heritage Malta – Store and from all Heritage Malta museums and sites.
