Calling young curious folk!
What did our ancestors use to cook and serve their meals? And how were these items made?
On Saturday 30th August at 10:00, we are inviting children aged 8-12 to experience first-hand the answers to these questions in a unique workshop being held at the Inquisitor’s Palace in Birgu, which will explore the traditional Maltese kitchen as a space of creativity and sustainable living.
Participants will sculpt miniature versions of traditional Maltese kitchen objects – such as stoves, pitchers, bread baskets, and fish bones – using air-dry clay. As they work, children will learn about the resourcefulness of past generations, when cooking and household practices produced minimal waste and embraced circular values.
This workshop invites children to reflect on daily life, women’s roles in preserving family traditions, and how these values can inspire us today.
Tickets are just €10 (or €8 for Heritage Malta Members) and include entry for one accompanying adult. Book online on Store – Heritage Malta or visit any Heritage Malta site to reserve your spot.
The event lasts 1hr and 30mins.
Children must be accompanied by adults at all times.
Ages given are just a suggestion – this event can be enjoyed by students who are 2 years younger or older.
This activity forms part of Heritage Malta’s Student Passport Summer Programme 2025.
