Heritage Malta will be organizing two special tours during the month of October. These two initiatives follow previous similar events which have proven very popular and which have sold out within a few days.
The first of these two tours will be held on Sunday 12th October and is being organized with the Vittoriosa local council as part of the Birgufest celebrations. The boat will depart from Birgu Waterfront near Fort St. Angelo and sail around the Grand Harbour area and creeks. A Heritage Malta curator will highlight locations fortified during the Knights of St John and WWII by the British. Tickets, which sell at €16 for adults and €15 for seniors, students, children and Heritage Malta members, also include free entrance to the Malta Maritime Museum and The Inquisitor’s Palace on the day.
The second heritage trail, which will be held one week later on Sunday 19th October, presents a brand new itinerary rich in information and visits. This tour which is being called “The Great Siege of 1565” includes a grand tour of the Grand Master’s Palace including the State Rooms and Armoury as well as the chambers and chapel, a tour of the newly-restored Fort St Elmo and a boat cruise round Isla Creeks. Heritage Malta curators will be guiding the group on site, focusing on the Great Siege of 1565. The meeting place for the tour is outside Forst St. Elmo (just outside the Mediterranean Conference Centre) at 9am whilst the tour will come to an end at the disembarkation point close to the Valletta fish market. Tickets for this second heritage trail are priced at €20 for adults, €18 for seniors and students and €15 for children.
