On 31st March Fort St Angelo will open for a reduced price of €2 while the opening hours will be extended by another hour, offering a unique platform from where enthusiasts of the traditional regatta can follow the races from the fort’s impressive bastions.

With its strategic position at the tip of Vittoriosa, the magnificent Fort St Angelo provides not only a good sight of the race course but also an imposing backdrop to the sleek and colourful Maltese boats.

The regatta is a traditional rowing event and is held twice yearly in the Grand Harbour. The programme starts at 1.00pm and offer five hours of spectacle with the best crews forming part of the rowing teams from seven different cities. The rowers participate in ten races under two different categories using typical traditional Maltese boats such as frejgatini, kajjikki and dgħajjes tal-pass and tal-midalji.

On the day visitors will have the opportunity to visit the upper part of Fort St. Angelo managed by the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. Apart from the normal guided tour held every day at 11.00am, another two extra guided tours will be organised on the day, one starting at 12.00pm and the other at 1.00pm. Tickets for these guided tours cost €5 (adults), €3 (students and seniors), and €1.50 (children between 5 and 12). Tickets can be purchased online from Heritage Malta’s website or museums and sites.

Fort St. Angelo will open its gate between 9.00am and 6.00pm, last entry at 5.30pm.
